Best Sprocket Combo?

My experience with the stock combo is it's generally ok for most but with tight and techinical trails it's too high. I went with 1 tooth smaller in the front and have been happy with it. Lost some top end but not enough that I care. I would also add that I normally ride trails and don't need the top end. With that sprocket on the front I can really lug thru the tight stuff.
I want to say stock is 16 on a 2005 DS, I've got a 15 and you can also buy a 14.
