Once again, from someone who owns a ds250 . Maybe 50mph at it's best with my butt on it.

These last three posts are headed into the "not paying attention" or "not really reading the post" category.
The wind won't be rushing past anyone's face, butt or your voluminous amount of chest hair. It's ENCLOSED. That means it will have a roof and a windshield and even a windshield wiper. Those are things that people have on their vehicles that they drive to and from real jobs. Just kidding. I don't know what you do or how much chest hair you have. I also know the top speed (because we've tested it) is only 45 mph. We'll have to change the sprockets in front and in back to get anywhere close to this. Also it will be very aerodynamic - shaped like a teardrop from the top. It will not look like an airfoil from the side. A vehicle like this weighing only 650-800lbs would lift off if it was shaped like most sedans on the road today.
I think someone mentioned the Campagna T-Rex which has a 900cc motor in it. It is very fast. Beats Ferrari's and Porshces in drags and handling all the time as long as the driver doesn't give it lots of gas in a corner. A 3-wheeled set up like this that is RWD will flip over if gunned too hard in the corners. So a 1300cc busa engine in something this light would probably end up taking your stupid genes out of the gene pool (provided you had no kids yet). The ideal setup would be a 2-cylinder boxer engine in the front with FWD. There is nothing already out there that is easily modified, and we're not at the stage of building from scratch, yet like you guys are.
Someone from another forum introduce the idea of extending the front A-arms out 6" and putting a +12" swinger on the rear to get an extra foot and a half of wheelbase. I'm looking into that.
Anyone have any recommended dealers/sellers/fabricators of those also?

alrighty then..........That cold weather that texas had a week or so ago must really be messing with their heads down there. 700lbs hitting 80mph in 10 to 15 seconds with a 4 stroke 250 motor. That pretty good. My wife has an arctic cat dvx250 which is the same as the kymco 250. Its not a bad little quad. Easy to ride handles alright, Power wise it is ok for what it is I guess. To me it is the weakest damn thing I have ever ridden. It runs right with my 450 Honda Foreman 4x4. My foreman tops out at 50mph and it takes 1/4 mile to do it. So when you get this powerhouse built let me know cause I want one. I guess since I am a foghorn leghorn rooster???What ever the hell that is.....

ROTFLMFAO!!!!!! This just keeps getting better and better.... roof... winsheild... wipers... a 50mph machine geared to do 80mph... ALL WITH 21HP!!!!!!!
Good luck my friend... you deserve a nobel prize in physics if you can get a 650-800lb machine up to 80mph on a flat with that power plant.
BTW, I got some plans off of ebay for a time machine that uses an ATC70 engine... maybe you could help me out with that. LMFAO

Yeah, we'll have to have a disclaimer for Fat Holly's that won't be able to get it up. A driver that adds an extra 400lbs would have problems with thrust. Compensate with a bigger motor or bigger tires or something.

Underdave, you should check out the pos"is ita canam?" that was posted today i think it is what you are talking about. only thing is i think these designers don't smoke crack. big enough engine, looks sweet... what can i say? i think they STOLE your idea!!! i would look into design infringements with an attorney if i were you.

Here's a link to that thread. Just need to put a plastic bubble over it, and it's done.
So you change the sprockets to get more speed, you lose low end torque to get it there.
Back to what you said (Underdog) about the scooters not being fast. They have the kits to get those things up to 90 mph.
If the cvt is the big factor, I think we could all agree, this is one time a Polaris may have been a better choice.
