Unbiased opinion on the best 450?
in the first couple of posts i saw people trashing the yfz for realiabilty, but i don't knwo about that. See i read the honda's have gotten faster as the newer models came out the 06's and such. Maybe the yamaha's have gotten more realiable since then b/c i haven't had 1 problem with mine. Honda is an awesome quad hands down, gotta love the stock suspension. Speed wise yfz takes it, but the suspension could be better, haha. Anyways i never had a problem with mine, and i've had it for over a year and a 1/2, and i ride hard. Maybe it's just b/c i change my oil every couple rides :-D, haha.

people are saying the 450r susp is better than a yfz??? really? i hear a lot more good stuff on the yfz susp than the 450r- well at least for jumping- thats where the yfz does good. are you talking about trail riding, and the way suspension is used there? then the 450r might be better suspension-wise cuz i hear the yfz is uncomfy on long trail rides

how about the ATK, im not sure but they might used to be called cannondale i think, anyways, they've got EFI, but weigh 370lbs (20lbs more than yfz, 2 lbs more than ltr)
they should be very high quality with their 10k US$$ MSRP price tag
(isnt that the same as a renegade 800's price tag?)

As far as suspension goes, I have found a dream come true company. Great product. EXCELLENT customer service. Super quick turn-around.

Hands down the best in the biz.
I don't care what machine you buy, if you are going to compete, you will replace the stock suspension along with many other things.
I sent my stock suspension and in less than 1 week, it was back at my door. Dialed pretty close to my wieght and riding style. The customer service was I really liked. The owner carries a Blackberry wherever he goes (GNCC Racer) and answers faster than you can imagine. Have a technical question, helps you there too!
I love my YFZ and it has treated me good so far.
I know some of you remember me and some of you don't. Crackerjack, I needed a carb and you tried to help me.
I sold my DS and bought an 06 YFZ. I went from mid-pack to top-pack instantly. Owe most of it to the DS's size. Worked so hard for so long squeezing though some sick whooter!. The YFZ is so much smaller and nimble, I can pop through the tighest stuff without letting off the throttle.
I was spoiled by the DS reliability and minimum maintainence. I work on keeping my YFZ in top condition by changing the oil every 3 hrs. During those 3 hrs, I run the dog meat out of it and it is hot down here. The air is thick and so is the dust. Usually that is behind me though! hehehe
I usually, okay this is going to sound funny, get sore around my butt, because the seat is hard.
A few of my friends have the newer HONDA and it is also a good machine.
It is like a Ford/Chevy/Dodge thing. They all work good and all have little quirks LOL!
Good luck on the purchase

crazy, I can understand your loyalty to Elka because it's a Canadian thing, but my stock shocks re-done by GT Thunder as as good or better than any Elka.
