Default Unbiased opinion on the best 450?

Going to pick up one of the 450's and leave it nearly stock. Bolt on parts and cam only. What quad is the fastest stock and then with minimal mods and which ones. The quad will be used to dune almost exclusively. Can't get an honest answer at any of the sites that cater to the 450's. thanks in advance.

The absolute best in my opinion for what your looking for is an 06-07 Honda 450R.

The 450R suspension is superior to the YFZ. Not to mention the reliability of a Honda surpasses the Yamaha by a long shot.

The KFX/Z 450 is too new to determine. But I would give them a couple years to get the bugs worked out.

The yfz is a ticking time bomb.

JMO.

Anyone have any experience with the suzuki? How does the EFI respond to intake and exhaust changes? I heard they push in the corners more than the other 450's. Thanks for the post headsup.

My cousin just bought a new KFX 450 and its a slouch.

A buddy of mine took a bone stock 07' 450R out and totally annihilated the KFX.

I would have to agree... I think that the new Honda's are on the MONEY. Solid as they come and reliable as my Cummins!

The YFZ is fairly brittle in the motor department, and I'm not sure my body would absorb the ride. They say it's softer than when the YFZ was released, but it's still a tank unless you are jumping off a building.

Maybe you should wait until 2028 for Can Am to release their 450....

Honda has a tone of recalls on the 450r honda.Just ask my cousins. Both my cousins have one.A 2006 450er and a kick start 2004 HRC honda. The 06 is def better in quality. But the suzuki lt450 with a cherry bomb on it will flat out stomp any other 450.Now with the honda HRC kit there even with the suzuki.I think in opinion the yamaha suspension is better than honda's.Ive ridden both and put many hours on them. The yamaha smoother. But reliability i agree goes to honda mostly. My cousins 2004 kick started honda he actually cracked the side case from the kick starter somehow. So its gonna be around 250plus dollars to fix.The hrc honda beats my ds.The reg one is close and depends on who the better driver is that day..I know you didnt ask for that info just thought i would add that in also. Its good to get alot of info before purchasing.Nate

good info, thanks nate. I am a little hesitant to get into the EFI game when I see so many problems in the sledding industry with the EFI's when you bolt on new exhaust and intake and they don't compensate for the changes. Anyone have any info on how well the EFI in the suzuki adapts to bolt on's?

I think you can buy some sort of EFI adapter thing. To adjust it to the mods.Kinda like how the raptor 700 has a little box thing you can use.I would say go with the ltr450.But the efi is kinda confusind. The honda's good except for a few things. And the yamaha i know the least about but everyone says its not reliable.Maybe someone on hear can help you out with the efi stuff.Cause id like to know about it also.
