Default a true testament to using the proper clutch springs

the story goes,
that before my bike was even a year old (I bought it new in january of '01) my oem clutch fibers were worn beyond the service limit due to excessive slipping from week factory springs turning haulers in the sand with a 240 pound rider.
so I replace the oem fibers with factory bomb fibers and reuse the oem steels, and reassemble with RWR 20% stiffer springs. still detecting slippage, which I had by then become well aquainted with the symptoms of, I yank the springs and install the RWR 60% stiffer springs, knowing that I did not want to bother screwing with it for a 3rd time.
No more slippage from then on, a year after this I step the motor up to 11.5:1 and cams and stuff, still no slippage. 3 years after that I step the motor up to 14:1, still no slippage. Now its another year later - the clutch I installed at the beginning of this post is still in there, hundreds upon hundreds of hours later, running 22" extreme haulers most of this time, repeatedly carrying my now 260 pound **** up and down the biggest dunes in this country - for a total of 5 years now.

to put it in even more perspective, I have a mid to high 50's hp motor, and it has has chewed up more front sprockets than you can shake a stick at, I'm talking probably around 15 of them, so no the bike has not just sat parked for that 5 years.

Absolutely! My first ride out with the 60% RW springs I actually flipped the DS on a pretty tecnical hill......was not use to the " grab" that they gave me.

Good to hear about the dependability!

Good! I have that same kit on the way. I plan on reusing my RWR 40% springs. BTW, I bought my DS March 31st 2001. Just now replacing the stock clutch. Though Hightowers specs are more impressive with that power..... and weight! lol
