OK I had to weigh in on the reverse thing.... someone mentioned a compromise quad... thats what reverse would be, a huge compromise. I really don;t think BRP would put it on the 450 based on the goals they set. This was meant to be a race quad, pure and simple. Personally I would never need or want reverse... in fact when I see a Raptor or Z400 guy riding backwards my inner monlogue is always clowning them.... dang, just jump off and give the front end a yank. I don't know what it is but a quad going backwards just doesn't make sense to me.

I would hate to think that Can-Am went to all the trouble of designing the most modern quad and did not include reverse.

Out of all the "race" quads sold, how many actually get raced?
My guess would be less than 3%.

Most are used for aggressive trail riding and running the dunes. While you don't need reverse in the dunes, it's oh so nice on the trails.

What do you think the two most dominate sport bikes being sold worldwide are right now?

After tossing 700lb sleds and a 500lb quad around with out reverse. Tossing this 450 around should be cake.

How many more 450's would be sold if they had reverse?

The same argument over reverse/no reverse could be had over kickstart/electric start.
How many quads today now have electric start?

If it meant pitching the headlights, Electric Starter, tail light, and yes, reverse, just to be the lightest weight at introduction, I'd be all over that - Especially with this quad and knowing the history with wieght issues. However, If I assign priorties, the reverse (for me) would be the first to go. As far as kick start, Im not sure anybody would go for an EFI quad with Kick Start ---

Honda tried all that, but it was still slow compared to the YFZ. That's why it didn't work for them. Now, if it was top in all catagories, I think it would have worked.

I bet they would lose more customers than they would gain.... there is a huge segement of duners, MX'ers, and racers that have no need for reverse. Again, I laugh when I see these guys going backwards.... it just don't make sense.LOL

Bomb,

Ron will be into this. It'll be a rotax motor, so there you go. I predict there will be no shortage of aftermarket parts for this one like the DS has had in the past. If it stays true to the 4 main goals, everyone will jump on that bandwagon. I see billet, big(ger) bore, EFI mods, Nitrous, Wider Axle (big guys will make it top heavy!), Exhaust, shocks, and Im sure there will be things to make it even lighter - who knows for sure about that. Oh, and there will be people that will say, NOPE! There is no way you can improve on that!!! HA! They said that for the YFZ and look at all the mods for that now!

This is the next game for sure. If I was in it, I would be having the time of my life with plans right now. You better believe the guys that are in it now are drewling as it is just waiting! LOL

I also predict, this will be Gary's second wind. Just you watch!
