Jimmie,

How's the carb working for you, did you solve your problem? Are you running the DYNOJET kit, or the stock needle and jetting? Correct me if I'm wrong but did you say that you have the K&N directly to the carb? If so do you know what the part number is to that filter?

I was wondering were you get a CDI ignition box and what exactly does it do? I'm assuming that it distributes the fuel evenly to both valves. Is it something that i could put on myself or is it pretty indepth? Also what about the Rev-limiter, is that like a governor? I'm sorry I have such stupid questions but I'm kinda new in this area. Thanks Shamen

Shamen555,

The CDI box or "Black Box" is the ignition system that recurves your ignition timing throughout infinite RPM. The stock CDI drops off makeing power at 6200 RPM and of course has a rev limit of 7700 RPM . People have put down the Ron Woods CDI because it has no rev-limiter at all. Well I'm hear to tell you that I had mine up to 10200 RPM and it sounded awesome and didnt miss a beat. Rotax engines are bullet proof. The CDI box is located on the left side just below the fuel tank. It has one plug and two screws. Very simple. No question is a dumb question. We all have to learn somewhere. I'm glad to help. You can order a CDI from RON WOOD RACING PRODUCTS at 1-949-645-0393.

I haven't had time to play with it some more. Maybe Saturday I will have some more time. If you know of the jets that work best in the HSR42, let me know.

hello guys, well I decided to go buy myself a DS and I am very happy with the machine. I have been reading all your topics and I am curious as to what spring in the carb you are talking about. Also, the gearing change. Someone bought a 15 tooth sprocket in here. How do you like it? Does it still pull hard from the bottom end? Where can I find a dynojet kit on here? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....newdsowner

newdsowner,

If you bought a 2001 model DS you dont need to be concerned. The 2000 models had a spring in the carb that was too short. The stock front sprocket on a DS is a 16 tooth. I ordered a 15 tooth but I havent got it on yet. Ill put it on this weekend and run it but a 15 tooth will give better low end power.

ive got the 15 tooth on mine and love.it works real well and seems like the bike pulls better through the entire powerband.you sacrifice alittle top end,but who rides wide open all the time anyway.ive also got the Ron Woods rev box and exhauste w/K&N filter, let me yell you it really wakes up the DS.when i first bought mine i was actually disappointed in it because it wouldnt rev out.but since the mods i love it and the ride is like that oa caddilac.

NEWDSOWNER,
You can order a DynoJet kit from DYNOJET in Las Vegas, NV (800)992-4993 $57.70. I feel it realy helps the throttle response.
