Lighter Flywheels for Dunning?
#22
Can weight be taken off the magneto rotor? I had my flywheel off, and just the flywheel weighs in at 2.25 lbs. Are you guys taking weight off just the flywheel or the rotor as well? If just the flywheel, how far are you guys going? It looks pretty safe to shave it down to the row of bolts holes that the rotor hooks to. I think I want to shave mine down too, but just not sure what everybody is doing with theirs. Any help is appreciated, Thanks guys.

with the pounds being discussed here it must be a combination of the two.
the uncertainties of how much to take each and exactly where is what makes it a much safer bet to have somebody experienced in this particular one do it. or at least a machine shop that does flywheels and can make an educated decision on this particular one. I would turn it on a lathe myself for that matter, if I knew the answers. but without a plan, a detailed drawing with dimensions, I don't feel comfortable.
