there is a video of a 600 gsxr at this site, not sure how to do a link to it. interesting ride, seems a little slow off the line but picks up quick, sure the sand would show a different side.</end quote></div>

That thing if freakin pimp and he's not even geared down. Looks like a stock DS rear sprocket. I think it would be fast enough for me. I need a doner

Holy hell that's awesome.... geez...

And the sound of it is like music....

What all are "known fits" into the DS650 frame?
I know where a DS650X is with a broken engine....
And I know another guy who is always buying and fixing dumped sportbikes.
He might could find me one that has a body too bad to fix or something.

First off, welcome back Sandman.

In answer to the posts topic, I can only speak for myself. If I had been looking for a 450 sport quad I would have already jumped on one of the many fine quads already available.
I was pretty disappointed by the release of the 450, after all the rumors and speculation of some hot rod v-twin Can-Am has come up with what I feel is just another entry in the 450 class. I was impressed with all their technology and out of the box thinking, if it holds up and shows up on a replacement for the DS I'll be so impressed I might let go of some cash and buy one.

Lastly, for all the guys wanting to throw 600cc's into a quad frame, I look at it this way, for an extra couple of hundred bucks and a forfeit of 20 lbs you can go with a 1000cc motor. For this you should get 1/3 more hp, were talking around 50 hp, a heavier clutch and probably a transmission more suited to the high stress of repeated drag racing with paddles. Streetbikes only have a contact patch of about 2" max. They don't take much to spin the tire.

The Yamaha r1 and Honda 900, 929, 954 motors were all going for reasonable prices last time I looked. I've seen running DS's with all kinds of speed parts going for around $3000 in my area. Sell the motor and extras and a DS donor should be well under $2000. You really don't have to spend 15,000 on a project like this, it can be done for a third of that.

180 hp on the Busa in stock form. I believe the Stock DS is around 40hp. Although I cant speak about all conversion quads, At least some of the guys put brand new crate street bike engines in them.
