Default ds650 onwers

I have a 2007 ds650. I cant remember how many teeth my front sprocket has. is it 16 or 15? I am trying to buy one right now with one tooth less. I was told that one tooth less would help my quad in high end power, is that right? FYI it has an ALBA exhaust pipe w/its appropiate jetting and K&N air filter w/ outerwear and the air box has no cover. This quad will be for desert racing.

Thanx for the help.

Stock front sprocket is 16T. Most here at a minimum go to a 15T front, especially if running larger than 20" rear tires. Lower gears provide better low end take off and acceleration throughout the gears at the expense of a few MPH off the top end.

With stock carb I have had better results running with the lid on. Check out OMR's stock carb mod post as well...

Ok thanx..So I am better of going with a 17t front sprocket for top end? I have 23" tires in front and 22" in back.

not sure you will reach max rpm in 5th with 22" rear tires and a 17front sprocket, probably would be better with the 15

With that tire set up you would be better off with the 15t front. OMR's mods will bring out alot of the beast that's being locked up inside. I ride primarily desert and dunes and you can"t go wrong with that combination.
