Keith,
Its good to see your post. Things are good here in SLC.
drbalazo,
I think thats a good decision. Fool me once .... you know the rest.
TPR,
I've known those guys a really long time. And you know one thing, response number 2 (I'm selling so much I cant keep up) does get overused in this industry. Im holding back on saying anything else.</end quote></div>
I know that you do, and back then, it was a too much too soon, trying to catch up old back stuff from another company that led them to stumble.
That said, I have seen the revised operation and what they did different this time was to seperate the design/manufacture side with the Race team side. In the past people got pulled off production to help build customer bikes and team race bikes, that was a big mistake. Now the two are completely seperate and I know that they have added another fabricator to help drop the wait times during this current rush.
Hey drbalazo got caught in a crummy deal, one he was not aware of nor responsible to know. I'm glad he's getting a good deal and extra stuff and I hope he get's it soon.
This is definitely a fickle business, somtimes you can't win for trying, all anyone can do is learn from their issues and hopefully remedy them for better future returns.

a guy named dean waters got back to me
told me the yada about backorders on 450 parts, blah blah blah 8 weeks out for ds blah blah blah
then he shouldnt have taken your money</end quote></div>
Yeah, Dean i swho we were dealing with. For some reason, my buddy called Dean up this morning to check on the status of his YFZ450 a-arms and Dean told him that he could not give hime any more info anymore because Alba told him so. (what does that matter?) Anyway, yeah, Dean told me to late in the game about the DS650 parts getting delayed and should of told Alba about that. Oh well, lesson learned.

Lets face it, I dont really know these guys personally. I've never riden with them, and I dont know anything about them. So, you'll get no personal attacks from me. However, I've tried to do business with them in the past - many times - and I just couldnt do it in the end. They always seemed a bit aloof to me.
There are a lot of ATV industry businesses that are run like crap. Yet, for some reason, they always find a sucker customer somewhere. Im not sayin there arent crap customers out there too, but thats just the risk you take when you go into business. The trick is minimizing the risk.
In my opinion, you have to set some standards for yourself and your business about delivery intervals so you can set the expectation with your customer. If you fail those, then you give them the option of giving thier money back now. Further if you repeatedly go back on your word, people are gonna find out sooner or later. This forum is littered with them.
Its just too bad there isnt a standards organization for a business. Oh well. As long as there are clowns, there will always be the image of great running business.

is epic what was that timmy boy shop? and are the owners still the same? I can see the getting caught up in the excitement of the new ds 450. but they will need to get there thinking worked out soon or they won't have the cash flow to go race. unless they won the lottery and they just do it for fun. There stuff on tpr's site does look nice though.

1. There's never enough margin or cash flow "to go race" by itself.
2. "unless they won the lottery and they just do it for fun" No and Yes. Some fat investor will buy them up thinking they can race as a hobby and have the business pay for it. The problem is, while they are racing, nothing gets done. Reputation goes in the toilet, and what you have left is a business owner addicted to fun without any money left. Sound familiar?
