I took of my stator cover on my ds this weekend and noticed that when I hit the start button the starter it spins all the gears but the flywheel doesn't spin.Could that be the reason that my coil is not firing.Could it be the one way bearing ?Where can I purchase one?

 

there may be some teeth missing on either the starter gears or the gear behind the fly wheel or the crank may be seized up?, can you turn the crank by hand? it will only rotate in one direction with the sprag clutch installed, if it rotates by hand then carefully inspect all the gears and find the damaged one, had the bike been making any terrible noises at start up? what was the initial reason for tearing the motor open? If the flywheel doesn't spin when you hit the starter button then you will not be getting the signal from the fly wheel on the trigger coil to generate spark.

 

I took the cover off because it was not firing at all and it was making a terrible noise on start up.What do I need to replace?Where can I get it online(dealer here sucks)?

I was running the big gun when the problem started.Now I have a ron wood but I am using the stock one until I get it running
