ron woods cdi....is it worth it?
#1
was wondering what people thought about it...is it a good mod to have....does it cause problems...heard aftermarket cdi's may cause starter flywheel issues....just wondering if its something i should get...if i even need an aftermarket cdi...or just stick with the stock

I have the ron woods on my Baja, its a good CDI, but a dangerous one also, it cuts out the limiter alltogether, i have tryed the big gun and bought that for my Baja X cause it gives u more rpms with a limiter so u dont overrev and hurt ur valves / blow ur motor lol, racin it with the stock cdi is a pain, id hit it everytime in 1st and 2nd gear, so its a worthy mod. I never trusted the small named ones, like ones u find on ebay, when it comes to my electrical i want to have a good quality trusted unit - ron wood, big gun, vortex

I've had great luck with the woods but it is a little high on price when compared to others, might want to add another 100 bucks and look at the vortex. having the means to adjust is a nice feature to have. the dyna tek seems nice with the features it offers and is the same as price as the woods i think, it might even be cheaper but it is also kind of a unknown mod.

I have had a Ron Woods Box for over 5 years and love it. It is well worth it. As long as you are smart enough to not hold the bike wide open, you will be fine without a limiter.

yea the big gun has a limiter, its like 1500 more rpms that stock or somethin like that, but if memory serves correctly the redline for our motors is like 8500 rpms, im so glad the DS's come with tachs

this may be a dumb question but, the rev limiter should kick in when in neutral and revving it up correct? if this is the case i have revved mine up to 10k in neutral...with the big gun.

It should definetly come on in neutral. 10k scares me LOL!
I have the vortex and I really like it. 10 curves to play with and it is programmable for custom curves. A bit pricey though! The Woods box is really good also
but I would hate to geneade an engine accidently.
