Paddles for a ds650
Does anyone have a real experience on paddle selections for a 01 DS650. I have LTE dual exhaust and jetted. Also have installed Ron Woods CDI. but other than that it is stock. I took it to Oregon dunes a couple of weeks ago and it performed rather poorly. I have Gekco paddles now and they do not pull very good. Any other upgrades work well without spending buckets of money?

22" 8 paddle hauler extreams on Black label rims. Very much worth it. It sounds like you are on a stock carb also. What I would recommend doing is (depending on your size) 200lbs or over gearing at 15/42 under that weight do at least the 15 tooth front. Also, a TM 45 Carb, or 46hv Lectron Carb would be well worth monies spent. Another idea would be going with a 12-1 Compression Piston (keeps you on pump gas) to make up for some of the bottom end you lost with the LTE's needing the direct mount filter. Just my thoughts.

live at the oregon dunes...im from there....im running right now...yosh pipe jetted and k&n air filter 22" sand stars rear and sand stars front....if u run 22" ur gonna lose some top end cause of the gearing change running them...i still run stock sprockets...but could use a lower tooth..was just waiting to see what mods i finish and then im going to 520 converson kit....but even with out that...i pull fine...let me know if u come back down...u can see if mine pulls any different...i ride wheelies all day...so it works...but for sure goin for some more mods...k&n and remove the lid.....huuuge difference....and cheap...

As the other folks wrote 22" tires at least a 9" wide rim Black Dot rims 0.160" wall, Haulers are great! I use them , Im now trying out EDGES and I fricken love em!!!22 x 11 x 10 8 paddle edges, and throwing the DS rear around is much easier now and they climb every hill great!
If your a play dunner tthe Edges are a fun route, or if your hill shooter the straight haulers work great also, stay with Skats there are way lighter than other tires and you can have Skat replace paddles if they get dammaged, a good person to contact on tires is Dave AKA AL BUNDY at Fullerton Sand Tires 714-484-5996, LOL tell Dave ERBE sent ya!! Ya may get a great deal or he may charge ya double!!
Also hit him up on the front Tires LOLOLOLOL

heard very good things about the 22" extreme haulers, that's gonna be what I get when the time comes. and this shaved hub and 8" wheel combo sounds awesome, like cynick said, less rotating mass. didn't even think of that!</end quote></div>
If you haven't done so yet try to get a 1 tooth lower front sprocket, it will also make a heap of difference. Even better if you can afford it do the 520 conversion, it will also save some weight.
