Default New quad decision

I am undecided on which quad to buy. The choice is between an 08/700 Grizz eps or an 08/500xt Outy. I currently have an 04/400 Outy and was considering a change. I think I would appreciate the eps of the Grizz. I have been completely satisfied with my 400 but always thought it needed to be a 500. Looking forward for some opinions

Personally, I say Can-Am Outlander 500XT. But that is completely up to you. If you want a different make, then the Yamaha would be a good choice. I just like the Outlanders suspension, tires, looks, frame, visco lock, bumpers, sound, yada yada yada.....better than the Grizzly's. But this is just my opinion.

why would you only go from a 400 to a 500. Isn't there a outy 650, that would be the way I would go, or go all out and get the 800. That way you don't have a chance of getting tired of it or decided you want more power later on.

Like Gatorhunter said, if you never want to feel like you need more power again, Can-Am Outlander 800 or 800R is DEFINATELY the way to go. Hows 75 to 80 mph?? Is that fast enough for ya??

Actually, have you ever gone 75 or 80 on any atv? It's really kinda scary! I mean, I come from a sportbike background....180mph was no big deal, but these things like to break loose and get squirrly at that speed! I went with the big boys so I wouldn't have to look back. You've been at the 400 class for a little while, I would step up to a 700 or 800 for sure. As for which one, both are good choices. Local service and price should be considered.....just my 2 cents....

You can take all the "shootouts" and put them in one bucket and you won't have beans.

We own both a Grizz with p/s and an Outie 800. My wife likes the Griz because of the p/s but after riding it a few times, I didn't like the lack of feedback and squirley feeling I got. I was alway's happy to get back on the Outlander!! Just feels like I have something under me. Set them side by side and you will see what I mean. I really don't think you could go to far wrong with either of your choices.

I have ridden a grizzly with and without PS and an outtie 800 in the last month. (it was all in the same day acctually lol). They are all great quads! The 800 is just plain out POWERFUL! The grizzly feels like a 600 after riding the 800...but it rides a little bit nicer. The power steering is incredible! I was very skeptical, but its very fluid and nice.

If it was me personally, I would be on an 800...but try them out and see what you think!! The ps is a great feature.

Thanks for the replys,I test rode the 650 Outy and the 800 Rene at Lost Trails in Pa a few weeks ago and personally I prefer the strut front suspension on my 400, which is the same on the 500 Outy. The power on the 650 and 800 was just too much for tight woods riding in New York State. I think its going to boil down to the dealer I am more comfortable with, most likely the Yamaha. Can Am 08/500xt camo $8,149, 08/500 $6,899. Yamaha 08/700 blue eps $7,500

Well I ended up buying an 08/700 red Grizz eps.Out thr door price was $7,300, no tax because I'm out of state. I bought a snowmobile from these guys 4 years ago and twice I went in with a problem and they said unload it and bring it in. Both times it was fixed within 2 hours on warranty.
The power steering is effortless and the ride is a little bit smoother then my Outy.
My Outy seems more precisely planted when fast trail riding, but that is probably because of the better 6 ply after market radial tires
I came home Sunday and put my Outy in the rear of the garage (long term storage) and I felt a little bad because she was a good friend who never let me down
