I am having a charging problem on '04 Outy 400. On the battery voltage does not go up with engine running at high RPM's. It remains the same. Magneto 18 AC volts at idle, and regulator output 9 DC volts at high RPM. The regulator is brand new and has been relocated. What could be the problem?

 

I had the same problem with mine!It would charge when I started it up then when I hit the throttle it would stop charging as much and eventually drop until it would kill the battery.My problem was my PROCOMM regulator.I put it on at the end of summer and did not ride much in cold weather,by the time I figured out what the problem was and emailed them they said the warranty was expired with truly only 10 hours on it because of the problems I was having with the regulator.
