i have a 2000 ds650 witch i just rebuilt from the ground up . and today i had it running .. i started it without the silencer and it ran and had a low idle like it should but then i put the silencer on and all of a sudden the idle is very high . i tried to adjust the idle on the carb but no matter witch way i turned it it was still reving high . its probably nothing big but im stumped .

 

Sounds like you have a intake manifold leak or you are not getting enough fuel to the carb and it is running real lean.

 

it turns out it was just my throttle cable was bent and needed to be place differently . runs great now
