I bought a used Outlander yesterday with 20 hours and 650 miles on it. As I was learning how to ride it I didn't get it fully into high and it started to make a high pitch grind and squeal when I hit the gas. I drove for about 1/10 of a mile and I played around with the gears and finally I shifted into reverse (it still growled) and finally into high and it was fine. I drove 4 miles without problems. Anyone know the cause? Should I bring it to the dealer for inspection? Did I hurt it in any way? I would appreciate your insight.

First - check with Can-Am about your Warranty....if there is one etc....
THEN check around for pricing at dealerships....they are ALL different....trust me on this one!!!
Explain to each of them what it is doing...they are noisy when you put it in park - I get that howl too...everyone that has one should.
I have a hunch that your clutch is junk....they are soft and dont hold up well. But - see what your dealer says...and ask them what parts it will need... see if you get them on your own - if they would install them...a VERY good way to cut your costs. Tonight I found a company called ALBA ACTION SPORTS....they saved me $157.50 on my parts alone compared to the dealer...and this INCLUDED next day shipping!
Good luck on your machine work!
