every since i installed this tm45, its like my bike which is a 2003 ds650 baja has lost its will for power,, its no were close to the speeds i had with my stock mod carb. all i heard was good things about this carb, the power gains and what nots, i dont see any of that, im seriously thinking about putting my stock carb back on. but first i want to know what can i do to bring this carb alive, should i change the jets, im curantly running the 150 main, 40 pilot, 97 needle at approx 2500 to 3000 ft elevation, i will be gratful for any help. im trying to get this bike dialed in for opening season at glamis. it will be my first trip and i would like to be ready.

Brotha, you must have a really bad tune on that TM or something really going wrong. I have a crappy tuned TM on mine just to test out and the thing is definitely faster than my modded stock carb. There are some guys on here that should be able to steer you the right direction. Have you searched TM45 on the forums, there is a lot of good info from past threads. Good Luck!

Something is definitely amiss. I ran three different modded stock carbs on three different DS's. Currently have two 03's, both with TM45's and they both have much more power than any of the modded stockers. What exhaust and CDI are you running?
I ride at 2200-3200ft this time of year and Glamis and Dumont when it gets cooler. Don't normally have to change the jets between any of the three places. Big Gun CDI and Big Gun Race series complete on one, BG CDI and HPR open end cap on the other, both haul the mail with the TM.
I've heard bad things about the direct mount filters not performing on these carbs but haven't personally put one on to see.

I'd get the parts to activate the pump soon. Research the Hightower threads on the TM45, lots of valuable information there that will have that DS flipping over backwards at the stab of the throttle! The difference that the OMR mods made over the bone stock carb are nowhere near the difference tht the TM makes over the OMR mods. Well worth the money when it's dialed in.
You may just want to send it to Hightower, he's worked miracles on a couple of mine.

I ended up running a direct mount on my build. I did a lot of research and tuning and this ended up working best for my build.
I do know that the stock carb ran much better with the snorkel.
Right now with a direct mount I'm running a 142.5 at 2,000 ft. and its right on. I run the 97 needle on the third groove from the top, a 50 pump pointed at the needle from just off idle to 1/2 throttle and a 25 pilot.
Some of these will be a little different from others here, but these work for me...
With a snorkel I was at 155 and the second groove on the needle.
