Well i own the DS but i've ridden the Raptor as well but I'm happy with my choice on the DS. I'm on 5'6" @150lbs but I ride like a maniac and I've always felt more confident with a wider machine. The stock width on my Honda didn't last long after I first bought it(Was tired of rollin the quad). When I rode the Raptor, I felt like I wan on my old YZ250 but with training wheels. The bike was real skinny to me, but then there was the width thing for me. I'm quite sure the Raptor is alot easier to handle in big air flights than the DS, but i was compelled to go for the Width and shocl travel of the DS. I too was deciding between the DS and the Raptor but for my use and the way I ride I chose the DS. Hope you this helps you out, and like others have said: It's great that these 2 manufactures have the guts to step up to the plate with some excitement in the sport industtry.

Sorry it took so long to get back, I acually just got them one day before I posted. I just fitted one on and the gaurd on the inside of the rotor is flush with inside of the rim. Looks good and seems to be just what we were looking for. looks like about 2- 2 1/2" gain total. Plan on taking the stocker, mounting them backwards, losing the stem, drilling a new hole on the outside, use a tube, mount a ice tire and using them on the ice.
That seems to gain about 3-3 1/2". Hoped this helped.

Please don't forget the 440EX's. I found the DS650 harder to beat than the Raptor. Bombs most of the time beat Raptors.

Im from new england so for me tha RAPTOR was the easy choice over the DS650. The ds was just to big over all long wide. I race a DS a couple of times one day he had lots of mod and probably 20lbs heavier than I am. my raptor is stock except for little things listed it was not even close sorry guys I like the DS but for over here in New England its just to much bulk for trails.
If you see me lets race and see maybe the guy was a bad rider??

correction, the raptor is lighter, as fast, but not nearly as sturdy or well made.

yeah I really wish it was lighter but at 6'5" tall I,m just glad they made it, bought the bike last april and have not had any real problems, I knew I would be helping the powerband and the front end but all these machines need something but I'm really happy with this one, also first wide quad and I like that a lot too

The 660r is a great machine with all the bells and whistles. Thats expected from Yamaha!!!! Bombardier had done wonders with there DS650 being the first high-performance quad produced. I'll give them all the respect in the world. I looked at a DS650 in Dallas, TX. and it still makes me scratch my head in amazement. We haven't heard the last from the Bomb....

I dont know where the well made stuff comes from. I have had no problems with my raptor and I ride as hard if not harder than the next guy.
