Man I still can't wrap my mind around how much the rod affects wide open throttle. I mean when the slide is all the way open the rod disappears, I would think the power jet takes over from there, ya sure about all this?

 

I put mine on a dyno to tune it.... for my setup, the richer i made it on the bottem the more overall horsepower it made. I know your supposed to be in the area of 14 on your air to fuel ratio, but mine pulled more h.p when it was in the 12 to 13 range . My power curve would start out very rich (12) and lean out as the power curve came up(13.88).

 

1882, i was under the impression ( i could be wrong here) but your need should never 100% leave the carb for fears of being stuck open, your needle should never be shorter than 1.969 or longer than 2.106. The needle should play a role in wide open, but it is a very small role.
