Default intermittant problem

Newbie here...I have an 04 650 ds that just recently started cutting out ocassionally, it doesnt seem to be a fuel problem maybe electrical?
It idles fine but on throttle it will cut out, come back, cut out again and the tach goes from 0 to 7000 rapidly....currently the tach is stuck at 3k!!

I took it out 2 days ago and there was no sign of a problem, my kid took it out yesterday and same problem occurs

anyone with experience on this?

Thanks

Default intermittant problem

turns out to be a "weak" battery, its only 4 months old and we ride almost daily. The guy at the shop says 650's go thru batteries...4 months come on, my friends 650 is on the same battery for 2.5 years now.
anyone else eat up batteries every 4-6months???

Mine does not "eat" batteries, but does like a fully charged battery. If I let it sit more than a week or 2, I'll throw a small automatic charger on it before I leave. It has 2 years on it so far.

Also, aftermarket CDI's are even more particular when it comes to operating on a fully charged battery. Mine will not start on a weak battery.

did the battery solve your problem? as far as eating batterys, weak grounds could put stress on the battery, check your coil ground , clean existing, ect, add an extra frame and motor ground. and maybe your batt will last longer.

the new bazttery did solve the problem...the shop recommended disconnecting the battery after every ride, seems kinda troublesome to me.
I will deff. look at all the grounds and poss. add a new one. thanks for all the info/input gentlemen
