The rounded notch is supposed to be there. Are you concerned you may have lost a chunk into the engine?

I've been through this recently and I believe the best option is to get a cylinder off e-bay. People are constantly parting out bikes, nikasil stays in almost perfect condition except for something going through the engine or coming apart. You should be able to come up with a cyl and piston for around $100. Good luck

Yeah this is a cylinder I picked up about a year and a half ago. Looked alright to start with. Just noticed some deeper marks in it under closer inspection. There is a place in Oregon that makes sleeves and installs them. They are called NW Sleeve. anybody ever here of them. they have bigbore stuff. This is another option I'm looking at. Since I have this spare cylinder and my bike is stilll together. I have time to put the parts together to do what I want.

They use to have a facility in California.
