Unhappy Winch problems on 09 650 outlander MAX

I bought a new 650 Outlander MAX XT last Fall, and it came with a 3000 lb. Warn Winch, which I used this winter to raise and lower the plow blade. The problem is, I can lower the blade no problem, but it won't come up. I have to play with it and play with it (by letting a tiny bit out and then trying the in button again), until it finally catches and brings the plow blade back up. Took it to the deal;er and he said "we fixed a loos connection", but the problems persisted when I got it home. It also SEEMS to be worse when it is colder, but I'm not really sure.

Has anyone else had this problem? (I also had problems raising the plow with my old 2004 400 Outlander MAX XT, which had the 2500 lb. warn winch, but only if the hendlebars ere turned sharply to the left.)

Any help or advice would be much appreciated - thanks!

sounds like an electrical problem, or a spooling problem, just my 2 cents

I tried it again this weekend, and it seemed to work OK, but it was above freezing so that may be a reason - has anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like a loose connection. If it was ice in the motor you'd probably hear the motor trying to turn; like a low hum. Check the connections and put dielectric grease on the connectors if you can.

Thanks, Moose. Will check the connectors and get dialectric grease. To make matters worse, the dealer on my lake no longer sells Can-Am, and so he won't work on the problem any more. So, if it isn't just a loose connection or contacts problem, I'll have to trailer it down the road a piece.

This post is a bit late, but it was an electrical problem with the connections in the winch itself - fixed under warranty.
