Cannot Break the Front Tire Bead!! HELP!
#15
I finally broke the bead this morning...I had to dremmel through several layers of steel cords and then use a screwdriver to chisel the rubber up in one spot. Then my HF tire changer popped the bead and the tire took a whole 23 seconds to remove.
If you want the bead to stay, clean the rim and the tire really well - remove the valve stem, then spray some windex at the bead (all the way around) and inflate to 40-50 PSI with a hefty compressor (One that has a reasonable tank). You will hear the beads "pop" when they are properly in place. As a safety measure, do not go above 50 psi and be sure to keep your face and any valued body parts VERY far away.
P.S. I did try adding a little air and breaking the bead that way, too. The sidewall just kept giving in. I only used a couple psi, maybe that wasn't enough.

The best way to break beads on ATV tires when they are tough is to put a little air back in them. This way what you are using won't slide off the sidewall. We do this almost all the time. I own and Run a Goodyear Tire shop, ATV tires - speciallity the DS ones with the fake bead lock can be nasty.
