I just bought my new DS 650 and I was wondering what I can expect from it, and good tips on breaking it in and what not to do. Thank you very much

 

just ride the **** out of it, and then when you get board order stage1 kit, and go from there, have fun, ds650's rule i like yellow though sorry.

 

Congratulations, hope you'r as happy with you's as I am. I took it a little easy for the first 10 hours as recomendedand I hav'ent had any problems, stage 1 is great.

 

I"m not sure about the differnces between the 00' and the 01's but keep an eye out for the heating temp switch red light to come on sometime. It seems like a few ds's have that problem early but warrenty will cover that no problem. Other then that you will be very happy with your purchase, the ds really rocks out.

Congratulations!! I just bought the same thing. as was mentioned earlier give it 10 hours without hammering the throttle too bad and all should be well. (As the instruction books says, do not exceed 3/4 throttle.) I've also heard it said that you should not let it idle or hold any one RPM for a long period of time while the rings are seating (break-in period.) I just took mine for a spin today (4 of 10 hours completed) and it was 100% awesome.

 

What not to do...don't drink alcohol and operate a motor vehicle, don't ride passengers, always wear a helmet, always keep both hands on the handlebars and try not to fall off while it is in motion. These are just a few - if I think of any more I will let you know.
