Gear shifting issue ?
#1
I have a Bombardier Quest and it needs to be rocked back and forth to get it to shift into another gear, my dad had a similar problem with his Outlander.
I understand there was a thread on here that mentioned there is a different bearing that can be used on the clutch that will eliminate that.
Does anyone know if the bearings are the same for different models ?
Is the outlander the same as the quest. They both have the 6 arm clutches.
The dealer said it needed a shim ?? The new bearing did the trick on my dads machine.
thanks, crs

Your 650 Outlander, needs the bearing change. Talked about in this post ( 6808 ) There is a post that tells you how to change them
Check out the post " Some Questions " There is a video that shows you how to change them.
Yes, the buck is a White Tail, crs76 can tell you the rest.

Will you hurt the machine if you don't change the bearing right away?
I said earlier the machine works, but when I go from H to P or R to P I have to rock the machine sometimes. I want to be proactive, but I have the disease "fundsrlow"

That is the wy BRP made it, the bearing change, fixes the shifting issues. I would have to think it will give you a longer life of the Quad. The bearings are $14 ea, the installation is not that hard.

Thanks Old Boy!! I guess for the money it is something I should do. I bought the quad for $5,000 with 232 miles and didn't expect to have to do much work, but everything can always be improved. The money broke the bank for awhile, so I was trying to hold off on putting more in for awhile. Since it seems you know a lot about this type of quad, did I get a good deal? The Brand new 07 650 outlanders were going for $6500 firm, plus tax, so I bough this one in February off the internet.
