Default Leaking oil

I'm leaking oil from the hose that goes from the oil tank to the motor. there is a metal elbow under the frame. I'm wondering if it is rubbing that is causeing my leakage that might of made a little hole. Can I just run a hose there instead of the elbow or is that a bad idea.

Do you think i need the little metal elbow, I was thinking just running a straight hose.

Just went and checked to verify what you are trying to explain. Sorry I didn't catch this thread earlier. All four of mine have those one time use hose clamps and I've had no leaks. I would say replace yours with the adjustable tension clamps and keep an eye on it to make sure that was your issue.
Having said that, the elbow is there because it's a high wear area. You could just use one length of hose from the tank to the case but make sure you have plenty of slack in that area so that the hose has no rubbing at all. You've got round frame tube down there but also square edges from the radiator.
Clean/degrease it real good and replace the clamps first if that's your lowest cost option. If you can get a good deal on the proper length hose then I can't see why that wouldn't work out also.

I repalced the clamps last year, but now it leaking again. I think that it is the elbow. I'm going to the shop on Sunday to take it all off and see what i find. Might have to replace everything to be on the safe side. At 50.00 bucks a oil change it needs to be fixed.

Thanks Aceisback.
