No your tire size affects your overall gearning not the rim size.
The downside of going to a taller rim is that to run the equivalent diameter tire you are now going to have less sidewall. As a result the tires will become more prone to sidewall punctures and the rims more prone to denting when hitting larger objects.

thanks guys
ya the real reason im asking is that i want these omf beadlock rims but they can't make it for a 9 inch rim with the 4/143 bolt patteren. but they can make it for a 10 inch rim. but i might have found a solution, I found a guy that will make me wheel adapteres so i can change my bolt patteren.
Do you guys have any info on the wheel adapters, are they good?
my choice now is
go with a 10 inch rear rim with a 20 inch tire (stock)
go with a 9 inch rear rim with wheel adapters that ill have a smaller bolt patteren and stay with a 20 inch wheel.
Not sure what to do

I recommend you take your hubs off and send them to either Mr HP or The Bomb. Either of them can turn the hubs down (lighten) and re-drill studs for Yamaha bolt pattern. Once you have the Yamaha pattern your rims options open up tremendously. I'm not a big fan of wheel adapters/spacers as they become the weak link if you tend to do a lot of jumping.
