I got my HRS TM 45 from ron woods 650 dallors after all done and said. It was worth it, this changed everything along with the port and polished intake. The kit woke my bad *** 2001 ds 650 Baja *** up, Im standing beside myself over this kit because I have never felt this much power while riding an atv, and I have rode them all. Cant wait to eat some 450 and 700 yamaha ***. I will update after this weekend because thats when its going down.

I bought a custom air box off e-bay and it matches up pretty close but I think the stock air box will work just fine. It is very tight in side my ds, if I need to take my carb off I will half to take the air box off first. Spend the 100.00 dollars and buy a after market air box you wont be happy inless you do.
The carb will mount to the stock intake but I bought the ported and polishes intake with the carb for 177.00 dollars. You get the carb the intake and the cable all for 653.00. I would not use the stock intake because its like 60 grit sand paper inside, you want things to flow smooooth.

That is actually somewhat of a myth. While it is beneficial to deburr any casting abnormalities that could impede flow, a complete polishing of the intake surface can actually make things worse. A rough finish helps to atomize the fuel/air mixture.

I don't know if this would help you or not but I have the a similar set up except I have the direct mount filter for the tm45 from ron woods. If nothing else it will get rid of a bit more weight. Another thing to help out quicker throttle is going down a size on the front sprocket. It will hurt your overall speed though, but it does make a difference on take off, and I still am faster than buddies 450. I also did a port and polish on my head. I have a buddy with a stock 650 and I am a 100 pounds heavier than he is and he can't beat me ever. However my other buddy with the 450 beats me every time till I get on his and he gets on mine, then he still beats me every time as my fat butt is what makes the difference. You can also look at going to the 520 chain conversion, I do not have that but hear it makes a world of differeence as well as litening your flywheel. None of these will affect lifetime of motor.

Im very happy to report on my race, I won. Top speed of my Ds 650 is now 82 mp. The race was a good one but the 450 could not hold its own. After two 1/2 mile runs we had to stop due to my brother stator bolt shacking out of his cover and oil leaking from that lol thats so funny. The race was close til 5 gear came and off I rode into the sun set once it was ingauged. While I was raceing him I took a look back and hes was 7 bikes behind and trailing I almost lost control by looking back but I had to see. The carb even things out on the 1/4 mile than the brute power of the ds took over and the win was mind. My brother was so mad and now he is changing his front sprocket and adding one tooth, also doing some timing mod to his bike. I hope what he is doing dose not work because Im king for now and I want to stay that way. Do you guys think he has a chance by adding one tooth and this timing mod? Im worried I guess, might buy that 720 kit to ensure my win. What do you guys think?

Sounds like you guys are going to spend a lot of money. One thing you have over him is cc's. You can build a whole lot more power for cheaper. Coaxing more power out of the 450's is tough once you got a pipe and fuel controller or carb mods it gets really expensive after that and the gains are fairly minimal. By going up one tooth he is going to gain some top end but you will probably walk away on the start. The best thing for your buddy would be gear for short distances and give up the longer drags. The power to weight of the 450 is great for sprints but the cc's win the long run.
