Angry whats wrong with my spedometer

to start got a 2009 can am outlander 650 and sence i got it the miles added up to fast. as of now its got 2500 but there is no way its got that many on it. had a 01 prarie 650 for 3 years and rode it the same and sold it with about 1100 miles so whats wrong. before someone says its in kilometers its NOT sence there is a MI next to the odo. does anyone else notice this or is it just mine. also could this be a defective odometer?

my 08 outty 800 had a defective speedo & fuel pump- had them replaced under warranty. I'm not sure if the miles are counted by the speedo or the ecm though. Do you have the factory tires on it still?

Make sure your speedo is set on miles not kilometers. If it is reading 2500 km that is only approximately 1500 miles.

If you bought the 3 year warranty- they have to honor it. It's not up to the dealer, it's up to Can-Am. I never had any problems with warranty work- but I'm sure there are some horror stories- every brand has'em.

If you didn't but the B.E.S.T. warranty, I think the factory only covers the drivetrain for 6 months after purchase.
I guarantee the first question they will ask is if you put after market tires on it, if you say yes, they will probably void the warranty- that's where a friendly dealer comes in handy- it's all about the write up. My dealer didn't give me a hard time even with 27" swamp lites and a snorkle, but every dealer is different- depends if they overlook the bolt-ons.

also- maybe the prarie's speedo was wrong and the outty's speedo is right

an easy way to validate your speedo is to just grab a gps and compare the miles & speed as you drive down the street-
