ds650 vs renegade?
#1
I have a 04 ds650 with 20inch rear tires, 15t front sprocket, pro circuit slip-on, stage 1 jetting, and dyna non-programmable ignition cdi. Im going to race my dad's 2007 renegade with fmf power commander and i was going to wonder if i even have a chance. We will race on road and dirt, my 650 does about 75 and it gets there very quick

That will be very interesting, I know stock vs stock the renegade will win my bro has an 07 rene and i got an 05 650x and he won he also raced another ds be for me.
How ever with the mods the tables may turn good luck

you might actually have a good shot- the 07 rene had 10 less hp then the after years (72 hp) and you got the lighter bike.
I have an 08 800x with 27" 589's (very heavy tire) and winch kit- I've taken a 450r no problem but against another big bore can-am... I'd like to see that race
race twice- once in 4x4 and then 2x4

Renegades are Outlanders there only differance are plastics,no racks and smaller 25" tires.
2010 Can-Am Renegade™ 800R EFI ATVs
Take the Plastic off of a Outlander and Renegade and no one could tell which is which.

)- but like you said, pretty much the same.I own both- the rene does feel a little quicker even with the 27" 589's, but they are so close it's really hard to tell- even with the extra winch & 27" 589 tire weight the rene will wheelie very easily in 4x4 mode- I can't get the outty to wheelie in 4x4 mode- the 25" tires make a stock rene feel quicker then the outty with the stock 26" tires.

The 80 lbs lighter would mostly be explained by the Rene not having rear and front racks and smaller 25" tires vs the Outlanders larger/heavier 26" tires.
I think those 3 things would make up 80lbs.
I just noticed the Rene also has 0.5" more travel in the front suspension.

The race was very close. We raced about 500ft and i beat him 2 out of 3 times on my ds650. We were even off the start and i pulled about a quads length in front of him through 3rd and 4th gear and it stayed that way the rest of the race. The time i lost was when i wheelied off the start and i couldnt catch him. I just got the dyna cdi for my 650 and i put 20inch back tires back on it after having 23 inchers on it for a while. it is a very fast machine!
