Doesn't it lose structural strength? Can it be cut for trail riding and it wouldn't affect it?

The rear shock is a no go. My ds 650 rear shock is about 17 1/2 inches center to center and the yfz 450x shock is 19" center to center with the extra length in the body. By the time I could squeeze it in I would have already lost 1 1/2" of shock travel plus the body being longer wouldn't leave only 3" of shock travel plus it wouldn't accomplish what I was after anyway. Got a nice shock to sell if Anyones interested.
