I have a 2001 traxter. I have had it a couple of years now. It has ran fine up intill recent.


I am having a running issue. It will run fine then randomly it will starting revving up and dieing down, and backfiring when it it revs down. i have drained the tank twice and put fresh gas in. i have cleaned the carb. added gas treatment to the gas. I dont understand why it runs fine then randomly starts revving up and dieing down and then when it dies it hard to start. then random starts fine and runs fine.


could it be the sensor on the carb?

 

I think you're on the right track, since you seem to have ruled out any problem with the gas. There might be an issue with the carburetor, like you said. I've had carburetor problems on mine too, it would sometimes backfire when starting it up. Turns out that the fuel mixture was too rich, and the engine would end up flooded a lot.

 

I solved that problem by adjusting the screw on the bottom of the carb, that and just checking the spark plugs and making sure they're clean.
