Help! Clutch is slipping BAD!
#1
I felt my cluth slipping a little, so I change the oil, Maxima4. Ran It a little and then went out on the road. stated shifting on went through the gears fast. It just kept winding out but would stay the same ground speed. And didn't pull you back like it used to. It is slipping bad. Do I need new clutches? Or new springs? How hard are the clutches to replace?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Try the HD clutch springs. I think the stock springs are too weak. Also, after a few cautious rides, trying not to burn up the clutch, the slippage may go away as the oil becomes less fresh. You might want a set of friction plates on hand incase you decide or determine you need them when installing the clutch springs. The set of 7 friction plates plus the outer friction plate will run about $75.

You will want to remember to change the oil again when you fix the clutch. By spinning the clutch like that, you have put fibers from the clutch material into the oil, and that will contaminate the bearings if not changed. A clutch change is a simple proccess for even the slightly mechanicly inclined, and I do recomend the heavy duty clutch springs also.
