atv pulls
#1
Just wanted other traxter owners to know another area where the traxter outperforms the competition. Went to my first atv pull last tues. Was a little worried about making the weight limit of 950 lbs so before i left i took off the angle brackets for my plow and the skid plate only to find out when i got ther they had raised the weight to 1050 lbs. I was informed after weigh in that i could add another 110 lbs unfortunately i did not bring any weights along so i decided to run as is. All 4wd's ran in the same class. Most were stock but there were about 6-8 modified quads there. When i pulled the mark to beat was 178 ft. After my pull i found out i had just pulled 185. I waited around but no one else came close. The second place quad was a grizzly. A bunch of polaris' pulled in the 170's. Also there was a new prairie 650 who carried a lot of speed but ran out of traction and only managed 172 ft. Just wanted to let you know how pleased i am with this machine. Do mostly trail riding and plowed alot of snow last winter and still have had 0 problems.

I have a close friend who rides a Traxter 500. Everything you have said sounds right to me. He has a buddy who went head to head against an SP500 on pavement, and the Traxter won! Not only that the Polaris broke in the process. I've spent allot of miles on the trails with my buddy who rides the Traxter, and have gained a lot of respect for that quad! Having said that, I can still kill him in a drag race though.

Not surprised at all about the drag race. The 500cc rotax has a lot of torque but the gearing, shifting, and weight don't win it many drag races. Just wanted to know how you like the 589's. Was thinking about those,the589mt,or489xt for my next tire although i'll go with 26 inch. Would appreciate your input.

I really like my 589's. The buddy I mentioned earlier who rides the Traxter is not a "heavy lug mud tire" fan. A lot of the riding we do involves having to ride the high side of very deep ruts, and severe washouts. He is still running his stock tires, and he's not too sure that he will go with a heavy lug mud tire. So I remind him freguently of all the times I've had to pull his *** out of different riding situations where those "stock" tires just would do it for him! The 589"s won't hold a hillside as well as a "stock" tire will. I know that from personal experience. The large lugs tend to slide down an angled rut more than they want to hold on. However, that is really a matter of learning how to ride on the tires your running. It took some time, but once I got used to how the 589's handled, I go everywhere he does, plus when he gets stuck from having inferior tires. I'm the one who always has to pull him out!
So my recommendation is get the Titans! Go with the 27". They are not true to size, and the 27" will only net at about 26.5 or a little less. But having said that, I can't think of a single time I would have wanted a different tire, in any riding situation I've ever been in. If I'm stuck, there is almost a 100% chance that no one else is going to make it either! More times than not, after I get done pulling some of the other guys out, I end up making it through without any help! Thats mostly due to the tires I'm using.

I am glad to see another Traxter owner has had the same results as I have with mine.
At our pull, I pulled 183 ft, nother Traxter pulled 179 Ft, then a Grizzly went 155 ft. then a Honda Rubicon got to 151 ft. the other 100 plus atv's were behind that mark.
If you aint seen it in action pulling you aint gonna beleive how it gets the job done.
Thanks
