Traxter 2001 basic model/thumb shift option.

Problem. When I shift from high to low, fully stopped, gears will not always engage no matter what gear I'm in (1-3). You can hear the flywheel spin? Then when you pull back a little more on the shifter handle and it will engage. ???? Maybe a loose shift handle? or bad shift selonoid?

Problem. Going through the water with the same machine while in the low position, it just will not engage in any gear. Sounds really bad like it can't find the gears? Eventually it will get itself out of the water. Then when you run it a little on the trail, everything is fine????

We take care of them but we also ride them pretty hard. I've been pulling sticks and mud out since the last ride but wondering if I have something stuck up behind the skid plate that is not letting the machine engage the gears?

This is still under warranty and will be bringing to dealer, just wanted a few opinions before I get there. Any help will help.

Thanks,

Fishbones

Fishbones,

Hi, Just bought a new Quest TX 650 and the damn thing locked up in 4-low and would not come out, took to dealer and they said the factory knows of this problem and has a fix for it, this is the second major repair in 2 weeks since owning it, I have to say...I wish I would have bought the Honda. Thought this might help

sounds like your linkage may be slightly out of adjustment. This the linkage used to shigft from h to l to r. I had a similar problem. The linkage adjustment is under the right front fender as you sit on the bike. you need to take the inner fender off and you should see it. It only took 10-15 minutes to get mine perfect
