need help with new handle bars
#1
I rolled my ds a few weeks ago and bent the bars. I ordered new bars and tried to put them on this evening. I thought they where real close to factory dimensions but evidently not close enough. The bottome bar that gets clamped on is longer than stock and hits the gas tank when turned to the lock. Then I put the levers and throttle on. The clutch and throttle cables are not long enough to reach properly when you turn the bars. The width is only an extra inch on each side but the pull back is more than I thought they where. Does anyone have a good set of aftermarket bars that worked properly, or know the price of factory bars? What brand and model of bars work well. I dont realy want a lot of pull back,or at least no more than stock. Thanks for any info.

scrambler, when i put my tag bars on i had to rerun all cables to get enough room to turn the bars. if you've already checked that, you might want to check out quad bend renthals.
p.s. i also have the stock bars in great shape. you want them. you can have them. as long as you pay for shipping.

I used pro taper bars with th CR-HIGH bend these bars are great!!I also had the same prob with the bars hitting the tank. All you have to do is get a piece if 1/2x 3 1/4x 2 1/4 steel or aluminum flat bar. Drill holes to match steering stem hole pattern. This will space the bars enough to clear the tank. I hope this helps you out.
