There is little sag to the stock Raptor shocks, but they are 3.75" shorter than the DS shocks. That's a bunch. Raptor guys that want shorter shocks are using Banshee length which is only 1.25" shorter.
Works spec sheet gives the lengths. DS @ 19.75", Raptor @ 16", Banshee @ 14.75".
Good shocks have lots of sag, zero preload, we don't need to go into the whys here, but a set of good shocks is going to do a lot more for you and your DS than just lower it.
......Congratulations by the way on your new addition. Whatever you do, keep the DS, your sanity may depend on it. I have found that riding with my two sons, age 13 and almost 5 is truly one of the joys of fatherhood.
......I have tried many sports in my life and quads are the best, most fun, most accesible of any I've tried. And the cost is mostly up front.
Once you buy it, (and neccessary mods of course) upkeep is cheap. No insurance, license, etc. And I can take it out virtually any weekend of the year, and have, even in snow, rain, or extreme heat.
