See Jeff, this is why I sold my lightning. I had a 2001 ford lightning and it was fast, but not fast enough, so I put in a 4way chip, air filter, bassani exhaust, then I ordered a pulley and canceled that, because I was getting obsessed.

Then I got back into the quad thing, after about 10 years, and so I decided I needed a truck that I could take places and haul the quads and gear and people. I am much happier. But, I decided that I would leave this truck stock. It does have better floor mats and a bedrug, but that is it. NO performance mods and it will not, well at least until the bug hits.

I think us gearheads have a disease, THE NEED FOR SPEED DISEASE. LOL

Oh well, this afternoon I am going to the trailer guys and shop around and then I may call the people up in montana.

bat

P.S. I had my lightning up to 148mph according my gps the speedo stops at 140 and it was still pulling hard, but I was starting to get a little scared.

Oh Man, looking at trailers is almost as bad as deciding on mods. lol

I went to my two local dealers, one is wells cargo and the other is haulmark.

The haulmark guy has an 8.5 x 18 that is sold already, but it has the heavier axles, dove tail rear, white and black checkered floor, diamondplate on ramp door, It is a really nice trailer, he said it was $6600 and some change. Said that they could get one a little longer if I wanted for a few hundred more.

The wells cargo guy is really nice, gave me their complete pricing sheet with all the options listed. It is great, because I can sit down and figure out the costs and then if I decide to go that way I can go in and say this is what I want. It looks like the price will be very similar.

What do you guys think, is the wells cargo or the haulmark a better made trailer. I think priced out with all the options I would want the wells cargo might be a few hundred more, but it might be worth it if it is better built. I liked the haulmark a lot though, it was all finished inside with some lights and everything. Really nice.

Any more thoughts
Bat

hey,Bat

big boy toys has a toy hauler for 7990.00! Its 20ft fully self contained. PH# 541-741--7600. I looked at these and thought they were a sweet deal for the money, however I bought a 29ft Layton and had it customized to the max, including rhino liner on the floor and up the wall for 1ft in the cargo area! All I have to do is hose it down after a trip. Love the toy hauler!

I like the Wells Cargo over the Pace but I haven't found a Haulmark dealer here, yet. Wells Cargo are more than Pace but look like they are better built. I think they fit into the catogory of you get what you pay for, and they should hold their value if you decide to up grade down the road. (like we all do, lol)

I Have a Haulmark that I haul my quads in. I love it. The workmanship is top notch, and it tows great. They are great to sleep in to. I dont have to take the slide in camper with me all the time. I have some foam pads I use to sleep on in the trailer. If you are going to sleep in it, make sure your side door has a latch you can open from inside.
