I made it for the first half of the day Friday and most of the day Saturday until the rain started. Friday's weather was good, but Saturday's weather was unexpected - windy and cold.

Friday I started out on gas at 15psi to break in the motor a little - I didn't get everything together and working correctly until Wednesday. Had some down time to get some hot/cold cycles on the motor. On Friday, the motor was running as good as it has to date if not better, without even running alcohol or turning up the boost. The turbo did well on gas at 15psi for a few races. It turns out that I was rich and was not reving out past ~8000RPM. Later I switched to alcohol and bumped the boost a few psi. Ran great, but again I was rich and not reving out. Unfortunately, on alcohol with slightly higher boost the head was not staying sealed at 42 ft-lbs of head torque so the day was cut short so I could re-torque the head to 60 ft-lbs and return on Saturday. I didn't get to spend much time with the DS guys, but there were some fine looking machines there!

Saturday the head stayed sealed on alcohol running slightly over ~15psi. I spent some time swapping standard haulers with taller haulers, tightening a loose chain, removing a throttle body to try and fix a sticking throttle plate. I got back out in the afternoon to make some runs. I probably have an intermittent fuel shortage problem to address but couldn't get the new parts installed in time - the motor ran very strong, but cut out at times. Just before the rain hit I turned some more ***** and gained ~10HP. Leaned the jetting a bit allowing more revs. Lowered the exhaust back pressure boosting power and torque across the whole RPM range. The +4" swingarm was not enough at this point to keep the frontend down.

Unfortunately there weren't any really fast 4 strokes that raced me. I was expecting nitrous DS650s and Raptors, PAMI DS760's, a turbo Raptor, etc, plus more drag banshees than I saw runing when I was out on the flats. What happened to the competition? I was looking forward to seeing what the nitrous could do and the full race DS760. I will be back a few more saturdays before the summer heat hits and would like to know when others will have their bikes ready? I didn't get enough riding in and the weather sucked so more dune time is needed!

FYI,

Recently installed is a +4" timmyboy chrome extended swingarm, a couple of new turbo plumbing pipes that were previously not sealing well, an exhaust header with machined surface at turbine inlet to fix an exhaust leak, new header pipe and midpipe gaskets again to seal the pressure better, an 0.040" stainlees steel O-ringed 100mm cylinder, lightweight forged ~8:1 JE dish piston & rings, 0.043" copper head gasket, HD valve springs, a little porting around the valve seats, minor cleanup of intake and exhaust ports but no change in profile or volume, valves are stock, cams are stock, head shaved 0.003" to ensure flat, woods single intake manifold with inlet opened up to ~45mm, leaky valve cover gasket and bad radiator cap replaced.
