ATV Connection's DS650 Pipe shootout!!
#11
I've got the yoshimura silencer. The power increase is no different then what the others say about their pipes. Better low and mid range with maybe a slight increase on top.
Easy installation, aprox 30 minutes
Its over a year old and looks as good today as it did then with the acception of some scratches that happen when I remove/install my whip. Its too close to the whip mount or, in my opinion, bombardier put the whip mount in the wrong place.
Can't remember what I paid for it.
Its loud but I've heard louder, guess you'll have to ask the guys behind me

Bike- 2002 DS-650 Baja
System- Big Gun complete Race System
Finish- Coated and hasn't dulled yet, no complaints
Sound- I thought it was fairly quiet until I watched (and heard :-) someone drive my bomb away. Pretty loud
Performance- Low end/better, Midrange/screams, doesn't stop, smooth curve
Performance from stock- Don't know, never rode it stock
Tune- Dynojet and K&N, first time ran like a charm
Fit- It did, but it wasn't easy. I had to sand down alot of the ceramic coating at the head pipes to get them into the collector. I also had to install a spacer on the mid support to secure the tail pipe.
Would I recommend it? very much so. Very few aftermarket items no matter what I install it on, seldom just bolt on.

So is there any pipe that is better than all the rest? On my SCrambler 400, I was gonna buy a pipe, and almost everyone pointed me to HPD. Are all pipes for the DS pretty much the same? If so, I may just end up with a modded endcap. I'll probably buy something with a little more adjustability though, like a Pro-Circuit, White BRothers, CT, or Graydon, or yoshimura. any complaints on any of these?

2000 DS650
RWR Full System w/ Megaphone (no silencer or disks)
K&N Jetkit (180), Filter w/ Outerwear and no airbox lid
RWR CDI Lil' Black Box
I love my RWR pipe...what an awesome sound and great power it puts out over stock. I have not tried any other pipe so this is a little one sided. I did however, start hitting my swingarm today...AAARRRGGGHHH. We were out at one of the local MX parks and I thought about previous comments about the problem on my way home. Sure enough, I took a look...the swingarms's got a ding in it and the pipe has a new cosmetic feature (ie: Dent). I don't think it's terrible, I would have to jump ALOT more than I am now to want to get rid of the pipe. Maybe if I increase the preload on the rear shock, it won't bottom out as easy??? Any ideas?
