<< I don't understand where all the clearance issues with the heelguards come from. Wouldn't 22" tires be 1" closer to the heelguards than 20"? Half the diameter = radius, right? If 20" tires are 2.5" from the guards, then won't 22" tires be 1.5" from the guards, or is there some screwy issue with tire sizing I'm not aware of?
I have seen tires on too narrow of a rim, which makes them bubble up and be larger in the center than they really are though. >>
Tire sizing is like horse power ratings, advertised and actual are different...When I ordered my Magnum Sand tire kit from Rocky Mountain I questioned why their advertising said the tires were 22" and not the 23" like everyone else and they said because the tires actually measure 22" and not 23", even though the casing says they are 23 x 12. I know when I measured my 20x11x9 12 paddle Haulers they measured like 19" in diameter. I like the look of the 12" wheel with less tire sidewall but that's a matter of preference. I have yet to catch the 22/23" 8 paddle Hauler on the fender brackets but I am a real conservative rider, very little jumping.
I haven't updated my homepage in quite some time but for those that haven't seen the ITP 12" wheels on a DS here is some pictures http://keeler.extremegarage.com/. I got tired pretty quickly of the 20x11x9 12 paddle Haulers digging huge holes in the sand, the 22/23" work better in my opinion.
