Valve clearance too small??

Manual says .004-.006. My exhaust valves are in spec, but my intake valves have gaps of .003 and .002

My question is :
Will things wear to increase this gap over time, in which case no adjustment is really necesary, or will the valve "cup" in the seat over time and decrease this clearance, in which case adjustment is needed.

If it were mine I would change the shims to obtain proper clearence and recheck it towards the end of the season

my valves were cupping when I redid my head and my exhaust valves were looking a little burnt. ( maybe the NOS) I didn't have any clearance on one of my exhaust valve and the intakes were .001 and .002. I gave myself a little more clearance then spec with the rebuild and hopefully I won't have to make any changes for a year or two.

DSjockey - two new shims are getting ordered - I felt the same way so I just finished removing and measuring them.

Majorecho - do you suppose the added pressure from the NOS was cupping the valves, or do you think everybody's valves cup over time and cause clearance to decrease?

Talk about tight machining tolerances - all four of my factory valve shims are the exact same thickness, to the ten-thousandth!

Hightower that is a great question, one that I could only speculate about seeing that I have no Idea what my valves and seats looked like befor running the NOS.
anybody else?
