I was there and will testify that the 760 is fast. It is a very impressive machine. It had enough to beat me and my Stage 3 420 Banshee. And I told those guys that the first thing that I thought was that it must have nitrous. That was when I found out that it was a 760. Anyways, I appreciated this opportunity to see these very fast 4 strokes.

Scooby's bike definitely has tons of power. Until he finds a way to keep the front end down, I think tuning for more power is useless. Every time that I saw it, the front end would point to the sky and he would have to back out of it.

I agree with Knutz. If I get beat by someone that shouldn't have beat me, then I find something was wrong with my bike, you can bet that I'll be out to even the score. And until you win the race, it is all speculation.

And Raptorboy673, are you the one that I raced with my friends white/black Raptor? I told you that you'd have to ask him what was done to his bike and I found out that he had not told me everything. Do you remember? I know that it must have been you because that was the only red white and blue Raptor that I saw there. The 760 was the only DS there that beat my friends Raptor. And I believe there was only that 1 other Raptor that could beat it. Not trying to irritate anyone, just complimenting my friend on his machine.

Scooby was pretty fast but when he is racing 300 yards rather than 100 yards I would hope that beast could catch up with something. He needs to get a longer swingarm....he couldn't keep the front end down. If scooby is the person that I think he is....he pissed me off! He would always line up on the far right and he would race "To Town" and he had a little "Lean In" move that he pulled on me two times. After the second time I said I am going to line up next to this guy and give him a blasting that he will never forget....I got the hole shot and started my "Lean In" move and was pushing him towards the south gate. I made sure to grab the clutch a few times to make sure he knew he was going to eat a lot of sand!

It's all good.....as long as he realizes it is not cool to blast people after they have already shut down the race.

Well people it was a mistake then to not ask him to race when I was dialed in better, I'll be the jerk next time, OK is that what everyone wants???

As early as this sunday I MIGHT be ready for another race. But is is going on digital video and will be posted online immediately for everyone.

I'd be interested in biggisbetter comments and 650maniac himself.

I did run 15-17psi without head leaking on Saturday. This is when the 760 watched me race and didn't join in. I won by default again since he didn't participate.

The turbo pulls taller gearing and taller tires than the 760. The +4 swing arm is not enough for sand dragging.

The 760 seemed to be behind in every race until near the end. Wheres the lowend torque??? Torque makes a good dune machine and and that's what a turbo produces.

I've found some of the problems already. One was a broken quick release fuel fitting that was restricting fuel flow to the fuel pump. Another was a blow off valve that wasn't opening causing the turbo to de-spool every shift. By the way I changed the entire fuel system and installed the intercooler the day before the trip without running the DS. Another problem was a clogged fuel injector.

Anyone that thinks this NA gas 760 can beat a properly running efi turbo alcohol motor at 20psi of boost doesn't know what they are talking about.

The saturday comment was giving the 760 credit for the potential it has. If he goes on alcohol or nitrous, then he may surpass me but probably not without solving some problems he'll encounter alone the way. The owner mentioned going on alcohol so his setup may not be the same next time we meet, that was my point.

I am the one that was riding the 760 this past weekend and I must say that it runs great. And as far as tuning & dialing in goes there was none for me to do. I put the dual carbs on & set the idle while the quad was loaded on the trailor. The first time I rode it with the new motor was when I unloaded it at Little Sahara when I began the break-in process. After the break-in process was complete I changed the oil & filter & began the a$$ whooping. As far as Scooby goes I would like to say that his machine is very impressive but I think that my 760 left a better impression on everyone because it was consistantly in front of the pack at the finish line and the only time that I had to go to the camp was to get more fuel.

Knutz,

Just curious, any idea as to what the RWHP and torque curve looks like on this "760 w/ the race head etc"...?

Again, just curious.
Compression?
Type of fuel needed? Can you get by with 93?

Swy

In Scooby's defense, i do understand the fine tuning takes a while. I have had a few irratating problems with my 686. Nothing big, a sticking chock(intermittent) a loose fuel screw, yda, yda. Once i thought it was perfect, and chris raptor was almost beating it. So i do understand the small probs.
