I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH PUNCTURES FROM DEAD WOOD. WHAT TYPE OF TYRES WOULD BEST SUIT?
I HAVE TRIED PLUGS WITH SOME SUCCESS.
IS IT A COMMON PROBLEM?
I MAINLY RIDE ON HARD DIRT AND ROCK,
I HAVE STANDARD BAJA OHTSU TYRES.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APRECIATED.

My friend just punctured his ohatsu sunday the same way. I suggest a heavier tire like a 4 or 6 ply.

I hear ya man! Those Ohtsu's are a really nice all around tire but they puncture 2 easily and wear out 2 fast. I have been looking for a good set of tires that have the same kind of traction but are more sturdy. I am tending to lean toward the Bandits the XC version because they are a 6-ply. They look like they have a good tread design and would be good for all around traction. How about it BigJon your running those aren't you how do they compare to the Ohtsu's and how is the tread life?

ITP XCT or XCR Holeshots work great in California Desert

How about those Bandits? A lot of people like them for puncture resistance, I've been thinking about them...

The Bandits are awesome for traction. Havent had any sort of flat yet, supposedly they will hold up even with no air or at least better than most. Definitley a good purchase. Need the aftermarket heel gaurds for the clearance though... I am going to change my gearing to 15/42 next.

As far as tread life, I can't imagine I will have to buy tires in the next few years and I ride almost every weekend. (No social life at all...)

I have the Bandit XC and they are bullet proof. The grip you get from these tires is awesome. They will last a lot longer than the Ohtsu tires.

Did you have to take out the Heel guards or do they work ok with the Stock ones?

I still have the stock heel guards. No problems. I don't do any jumping though.
