I read magazines that say the baja is faster and ones that say the banshee is faster. However when i talk to some people thay say that the banshee is the most leathal bike out there and can kill a raptor and ds650 baja with ease. Im just trying to get to the bottom of this .

Whats funny is that i own both a banshee and a ds but my banshee isnt stock so no one belives me. Im just trying to find out the truth. So i dont look like a fool when telling people this.

So Honestly who will win in a 1000foot drag both bikes stock?

Who will win in a 500food drag both bikes stock?

And what has a faster top end?

Remember this is both stock with good gravel conditions.

If you guys have any proof please tell me. Thanks.

the DS is faster, in gravel conditions, because the stock tires on the banshee suck. i don't know about the 1000 foot one though, because the banshee has awesome top end power, and the DS's rev limiter is low, but the baja one has a higher limiter. I'm sure i read it somewhere that the normal DS is faster than the banshee, but not by much

Whats with all the people saying that a banshee will lift up the tires even if you lean forward. They use language like its leathal and i just couldnt handle it so i sold it to get a raptor.

My banshee wont lift the tires if you dont let it and its not faster then my baja. It is also has a crappy bottom end.

THanks for the responce but i think i will wait for someone that has more experiance with both bikes.

Thanks.

I have a friend that got a Banshee same time I got my DS, and we've modded together.
When we were both stock, I could win 100yrd drags wearing the worst tires in the world - dominators. Our top ends were neck and neck.
After we both piped, he can take the drags, but by very little, and top ends were still pretty much the same.
Now I have what you see below in my signature, and he has coolheads with modified compression, reed spacers with a higher performance set of reeds, pretty much all the typical bolt on intake and exhaust mods common to the Banshee, and he gets the 100yrd by about 2 quad lengths. We haven't been able to compare top ends again yet, but I'd guess we're close to the same still since I got the rev box from RWR.

I should also point out that I am 50lbs heavier than him - it does make a differnece.

that 50 pounds is a big disadvantage, seeming how the DS is already a lot heavier

I sold my Banshee for the DS 650 Baja. I can tell you that that the Baja and Banshee almost have the same top speed, but the Baja will get you there much quicker and the machine is much more balanced. The place where I ride is a mixture of hard pack and rocks to some sand. At speed, the Yamaha moved around a lot and you really had to "ride" the machine and keep it in the proper powerband. With the Baja, I am able to go much faster way easier, and not get into out of shape in any way. I loved my Banshee, but my wife is really starting to get annoyed with me telling her how much better the Baja is after every ride...

Doesn't matter much which is faster stock vs. stock because no one ever keeps them that way.

Riding at Sand Mt., NV a Banshee with pipes will take me on my DS with mods listed below when we are going up Comp Hill. We never race on flat ground.

However, I like to ride around the mountain, over the whoops, in the bowls, run tight trails, etc. and the Banshee will flat ware you out. The DS takes the rough sand like a dream and climbs any hill at the mountain.

I would like to beat my buddy going up the hill but, as soon as I do he will do some other modification to his Shee to keep up.

Make the DS lighter and then let's see what it does vs. the Shee.
