Probably because once apon a time yamaha used to make a very good bike. Reliable, durable, and designed well. Now they just build atvs using tin foil parts like axels and 2nd gear and rely on there reputation to sell.
There 2000+ kodiak ultra in my opinion is on of the worst designed bikes. Nothing but problems with squeeks, brakes, suspention and bushings.
And as for being 3rd on the podium well there banshee still takes it top end so unless its a drag race welcome to 4th.

I think he is. The Raptor's reliabilty has to be one of the biggest disapointments of the ATV industry period. I like the quad alot and I would have bought one if I hadn't had a DS right down the row from it to campare it with. I got the DS for 2 reasons. 1. I knew the Rotax was THE best built motor period, always has been, always will be. 2. I wanted something different from my brother(Raptor) and from anything else out there. Man did I choose correctly, for me that is.

its totally true, o used 2 have a 1984 Yamaha YZ80 and that things was awesome, after the new piston n rings it always started up in 3 kicks or less, and i know a guy who had a older kodiak, a 94' i think, he ran the **** outta that thing, it still ran pretty good until the drain plug came out n it seized

Theres no denying it. The Pre 2000 yamaha atvs can not be killed. My 1996 kodiak went to hell and back and craved for more. But my 2000 kodiak ultra is a far cry from what the 1996 bike was. and so is the raptor and grissly. There is a trend starting with yamaha products.
Bombardier is also setting a trend and is the kind that the other manufactors dont want being set. All this talk about suzuki and yamaha playing with setting the bar. THey must be talking about a support bar for the tower that holds THE BAR that bombardier is setting and raising.
