I have heard a lot of good things about Simple green for cleaning the body work,it is biodegradable, and cuts grease and dirt like a knife. I would stop cleaning your chain with WD-40, the solvents in there are not good for o-rings in your chain. Best way to clean your chain is to ride it a while to warm it up, then prop up the back end, then use a copper or stiff plastic brush to clean it off, then give it a coat of an o-ring approved lube, like Maxima Chain Wax,or your favorite brand. It dries to a non tacky coating, and won't fling off or attract dirt like liquid lubes will.

Wash your engine COLD!
Use a yard leaf blower to get most of the water off before drying.
Don't use a pressure washer on the chain, bearings/seals, radiator, switchgear or carb areas.
S100, Suzuki cycle wash, Motul Spray cleaner, Hondabrite etc. (all work pretty good)
Diluted Simple Green will work, too (but it is a little more caustic without as much sufficants.

Depending on how detailed you want to clean you DS. I put mine on a stand, take off the wheels, seat, and plastics. Spray it down with simple green, fill a bucket with soapy water then wash it. Then wash the plastics. Then the wheels with a good scrub brush. Use my compressor to blow it off and towel dry it. Then I dry the wheels put them back on and start on the plastics. Dry them off and then I use formula 2001 tire shine on them, then put them back on. After all of this I check the chain making sure it is lubed and adjusted, check oil, and coolant. Once everything is done and I've done the final check, I take her for a ride down the block to make sure everything is good. Then I turn off the fuel, drain the carb bowl, and tuck her away until the next ride. I know it sounds like alot, but when it is time to go for the next ride you know it is ready to go and you don't have to mess with it.
