Default Vees or Extreems?

I still use my stock heel guards with my 22's. What I did to be safe was i took a small torch and heated up the base of the outside flap on the guard and molded it so it sticks straight out instead of tapering towards the rear. Works great can't even tell they were modified. Hope this helps

Quadman650 says:

I have 22x11x10 ten paddle haulers. All i had to do is trim off the last crease in the heel guard.
If i were you, as heavy as the ds is, go with my tires or the extreme version. Great all around, espically the holeshot in drag racing.

My mods are: 14 tooth front sproket, and make sure you get pami or tvi heavy duty clutch springs. Trust me, it will save your clutches in the long-run.

I run 22x10x10 (9 paddle) Extreams and love them. These tires can't be beat for climbing. You will have to go with a set of after market heel guards. I went with the Diamond G racing set. I think they look way nicer and are much stronger then the stockers. Make sure to buy a set of 22" for the rear, the DS seems to really like a little bigger tire on the back end. You will also have to gear down a little. I went with a 15 tooth on the front and stock in the rear. I just ordered a 14 tooth for the front to drop my ratio a little lower.
I also plan to buy a set of v-paddles to play around a little. I will probably go with a set of edges in a 22 X 11 X 9.

Whatever you do, get the 22" tires. There is no NEED to buy the aftermarket heel guards, however they are nice to have. I can send you pictures of exactly what a cut heel gaurd looks like, I took pictures of mine just after I cut them. One thing to remember about Scat-Trak tires: a 22" Scat-Trak is actually about 20", so there really isn't any clearance issue with a 20" (physical measurement) tire. My tires measure a TRUE 21" at the carcas, with an extra inch plus for the paddle and they have never hit, and I have only the stock trimmed garuds. I have 8 paddle hauler 20x11x10 on my Mojave (non-extremes) and they are so tiny I think it would look like a joke if you put them on a DS.

Oh yeah, you say you weigh in at 235, at 220 I'm not much lighter than you! I'm working on a get skinny quick plan, and as soon as I figure out how to make it work I'll get rich quick, and reture with a huge 100 car garage then fill it halfway with rather large Trucks & SUVs the other half with ATVs.
